How to Comment on Blog Entries
Your comments are valuable to me! This article tells you how to register with my blog and contribute comments.
To comment on any blog topic, you must be first be registered. Register by clicking on the “Register” link in the sidebar.
Clicking on the “Register” link will lead you to the Registration page.
After registering, you will receive an e-mail with your username, a system-generated password, and a direct link to the login page. You can now log in. Click the Remember me box to avoid having to log in every time you come back to the blog.
Once logged in (and, in fact, every time you log in), you will be taken to your Profile page of the blog Dashboard. You may now update your profile as follows:
- You can enter your first name and last name, and you can modify the system-generated nickname.
- You can modify your e-mail address. You can enter your Web-site address and any screen names for AIM, Yahoo and Jabber/Google Talk.
- You can enter Biographical Info; this may appear alongside any comments of yours.
- You’ll probably want to change your password to something more memorable. Note that you must enter the new password twice.
Note: Until you actually click on the Update Profile button at the bottom of the page, you will not be able to select anything other than your username in the Display name publicly as box.
Go ahead and click Update Profile. You should now see a small message at the top of the screen saying User update. At this point, you can change the Display name publicly as selection. Do so and click Update profile once more.
Now click on the Visit site link at the top of the page to view the public blog. As long as you stay logged in, you will see a Site Admin link which will always take you back to the blog Dashboard.
Now that you are registered, you can add comments or questions to any blog topic for which comments are open. (Some blog entries may be closed to comments, at the discretion of the authors.)
If you are viewing the full content of a blog entry for which comments are open (and are logged in), you should see a box into which you can enter your comments.
If you are viewing an “archives” page, you should see a link which either indicates the number of current comments or the message “No comments”. Click on the link, and you’ll be taken to a new page displaying the full content of the blog entry, any existing comments, and the comment-entry box.
That’s all there is to it!
